god, that took some reading (just like my C2C log, hey John!)
apart from the obvious supplies such as;
water/drinks
bananas/mars bars/food
innertubes, spare tyre repair kits etc,
I will be able to get cycling tshirts/vests with logos of them who have supported us, but i think we still need to look into who we can contact.
what other items would you recommend we would need, that we could maybe write to companies/business in the hope of securing sponsorship?
Maybe someone would lend us a van/support vehicle for the event itself, or even see if we can get someone to stump up some cash for the petrol? - gonna be a expensive trip if we need to pay for all/most of this ourselves - and we need really a support van in my opinion! (i have a driver)

A support back-up van would be an advantage to the trip, being light would mean more miles.
Don't know how much it would cost otherwise for petrol. The trouble with John o' Groat's is getting back, the train service (ScotRail) is S***e and a right chew on. A van carries the bikes from Wick to Inverness and dumps the bikes there.
I know this, when I did the Edinburgh to John o' Groats on the Sustran's route 1 a few years ago. bad enough with two bikes, let alone 10 bikes.
The van driver's (on ScotRail transit van) do not give a s*** the way they handle bikes, this Tartan Haggis Basher damaged my Brooks B17 saddle and broke my mates Cat-Eye Mity computer in transit. So a van would be the best idea.

well, if you base petrol on £1 per litre, (£4.50per gallon, and 35 miles to the gallon, or 12-13p per mile), i reckon £300 petrol money would cover it, and thats hiring (loan) from a local firm, picking up everyones bike, trip to LE (or JOG), then the trip to other end, sticking all bikes in van and returnin up North East.
Then the only people to worry about are the riders, but its easier to put 10people on the train, than it is 10 people AND bikes
