Hi Disco
Although I never stayed at Rookhope Inn, it was my first choice of accomodation for my second night, unfortunatly it was fully booked when I enquired prior to starting the c2c and ended up staying at Allenheads Inn instead. When I stopped off at the Rookhope Inn to get my card stamped it looked very clean and the people checking out when I was getting my card stamped all said they would stay there again. Although Allenheads Inn has got some good write ups on this link I personally wasn't impressed and will book more in advanced next time for the Rookhope Inn.

We stayed at the Old Vicarage in Rookhope when we did the C2C this year. We camped but I believe they also do B & B.

Did the C2C in Sept. Brooklands guest house in Penrith was excellent. The guy who ran the place was really helpful and a top host ! At Rookhope we tried to get in at the Inn but it was fully booked so stayed at the Old Vicarage which was fine ! Wouldn't have any hesitation staying there again.

Did the C2C and stopped at two places and can highly recomend both.
Firstly in Penrith at Abbey House. Very clean and comfortable. Good hospitality.
Secondly at Rookhope Inn where again was very clean and comfortable along with great food. Good atmosphere in the bar and the welcoming open fire helped the thirsty appetite. Good hospitality.

Hi Disco, just completed C2C this last w/end stayed at Caledonia B&B in Penrith and Old Vicarage in Rookhope both excellent. Got to say Old Vicarage is superb Colin and Pauline go out of there way to help the food is fantastic and they genuinely cant do enough to help. Likewise Ian in Caledonia very friendly and helpful. Both places clean and reasonably priced. Hope this helps.

A group of 8 of us did the c2c over 3 days last weekend, staying at Penrith and Rookhope.
The accommodation in both places was superb:
In Penrith, 4 of us stayed in the Tynedale and 4 next door at the Eden, both on Victoria Road, just near the centre of town. Most of the guest houses on that road seem well geared up for cyclists. The breakfasts and hospitality were great (even when we didn't arrive until 9.30, having set off late and taken a 12 mile detour via Keswick stone circle..).
In Rookhope, we stayed at the Old Vicarage with Colin and Pauline. Again, the hospitality was outstanding. Comfy beds, cold beer available, and fantastic food. The spread that Colin laid on was amazing, all kinds of tapas, tasty, healthy starters and enchiladas. Restaurant standard for £10.50!
It's great to have some luxuries after a day in the saddle.
