Rucksack or Panniers for 1stTimer on the C2C advice please..

Postby paulstevo on Tue May 26, 2009 4:26 pm

Firstly hi all..
About to attempt the C2C over 3 days on 1st June with 2mates..
After a bit of advice i have a pretty decent rucksack (lowe Alpine airzone 25)its very comfortable and i have used it whilst training for the upcoming ride..albeit the longest i have gone is approx 24 miles(many times),hoping to do a 50 mile ride this week...
Will i be ok to use it for the C2C or are panniers a better option...
Just seems if the rucksack is ok then it should suffice..or will it take its toll the longer into the trip...If panniers are a better option any recommendations.
Thanks
Paul...

hi and welcome paulstevo, are you b&b ing or camping? personally id let the bike take the load with panniers, or travel light with rackbag.

Wasnt guilty of that m8..
We were only ones in the B&B on Monday had a few guiness and some Sneck Lefter two of the lads had a Cow pie in the George in Keswick and it was time for bed...
Tues we stayed in Alston in the Victoria (gr8 place to stay that has Curry restaurant attatched to it and the food is spot on..) had few too many Theakstons but hey ho...
Last day all the way to Tynmouth was a hard last day (harder than i expected)
Overall weather was stunning ..scenery brilliant..
One of the hardest and best things i have ever done..
Already looking to arrange for next year with an alternative route.. :D :D
