Reivers Cycle Route

Postby dougonthetyne on Wed Jul 16, 2008 1:41 pm

Over the next few months the Reivers Cycle route between Tynemouth and Gowanburn, Kielder will be re-numbered as National Route 10 with Red 10,s - at the same time the badly signed section from Ponteland to Kielder will be re-signed.

FYI over the next couple of years all existing regional cycle routes will become National Cycle routes with red numbers in the 100 to 999 range.

Reivers is fortunate as NR 10 had not been used before.

I will be out soon to carry out this change over.

Note:- where there is more than one route intertwined as in North Tyneside ( Hadrian's Cycleway and Reivers) then the main route will be signed using standard number, 72 with the other route signed with the number in brackets (10) as per national road signing.

NR72 will no longer have an alternative finish at Tynemouth.

Diversion on Reivers / Signing

Postby dougonthetyne on Tue Sep 02, 2008 9:41 am

A short section of the Reivers route in North Tyneside will be shut for 1 week commencing Sept 8th between Percy Main Metro bridge and the Cricket ground - a signed diversion on road will be in place.

Reivers now signed as National Route 10 (RED numbers) between Tynemouth and mile 37 (B6342) near Throcklington.

Next section to Kielder Dam should be completed by end Sept.

Reivers Cycle Route

Postby dougonthetyne on Sun Sep 28, 2008 10:56 am

The section between Tynemouth to mile 69 at Kielder has now been re-signed with new and updated signs as National Cycle Network - Route 10 - all signs carry a Red number 10

From mile 69 onwards follow any remaining signs that have a BLUE 10 on them.

The section through Kielder Forest can be hard to follow - take a OS map !

The new Lakeside Trail along the south shore can now be used between the dam and Lewisburn but is not signsed as Reivers yet - this avoids the busy C200 logging road.
