W2W

Postby Graysie on Tue May 06, 2008 8:02 am

Hi. Has anyone done the W2W? A few of us are planning on doing this over 2 days stopping in Kerby Stephen. Is this route well signposted like the C2C route or do we have to use the force a lot....

Any kind of advice would be appreciated

Thanks Graysie

I know the section between Tan Hill and Whitby is signed, which was done by our local Sustran rangers. I've not done any of the W2W route as yet, but hoping to do from Kendal to Whitby in June. The W2W is very detailed and the section is on the new discovery map for Barnard Castle to Whitby route.

Most of it is well signed. I didn't have any problems (other than going the wrong way from Barrow station!). It's a very good ride and comparable to C2C in terms of difficulty and terrain. The hills other than the assault of an Hill are shorter but seemed more frequent. Off road alternatives were fine with the roughest track I encountered the descent off tan Hill to Barnard Castle. I did the Whitby finish option which when I rode it wasn't signed but may now be. It will be challenging in 2 days.
