Just traced your route, quite a trek! You should have a fantastic time.
When are you setting off? I hope the weather's ok for camping .....
Good luck, and I'll be in touch soon.
Mick.
(Just seen your other post - June. Good time of year.) _________________ Mick F Cornwall

I will be setting off from Edmundbyers youth hostel around the 19th, so I'll let you know near the time or see you this Saturday at the Ranger's day.

better than the tatty hostel it was years ago, still I'm camping in the hostel grounds.
Do you know of any decent back roads from Edmundbyers to Newcastle Central Station. Was thinking of connecting up with Hadrians Wall cycle way, I had Shotley Bridge via B6309 in mind or maybe Carterway Heads then A68 to the Tyne Valley.
Any suggestions.

i would go from edmundbyes up to consett via pub called moorcock and castleside then join onto derwnt walk to swalwell then down onto tyne past quayside,or couul ride to blanchland to stocksfield and down onto hadrians at ovingham(my home town) and along to the toon that way. _________________ camping out on the edge of reality

Cheers for that, john. Been on the maps and I like the idea of going from the hostel to Blanchland, Stocksfield, Hadrians cycle-way and then to the Toon. I've never been round these parts and would be a change to cycle a bit of it.
I have slightly altered the route, so it's looks like I'm doing C2C all the way from Blencow to Waskerley Way, dropping down to Edmundbyers via B6278.
This is how the route is looking.
Stockton - Darlington - Manfield - Caldwell - Barnard Castle - Sleightholme - Tan Hill - Barras - Kirkby Stephen. 55 miles.
Kirkby Stephen - Soulby - Great Ashby - Orton Bents - Crosby Ravensworth - Shap - Bampton - Pooley Bridge - Keswick - Whinlatter - Cockermouth. 63 miles.
Cockermouth - Great Broughton - Camerton - Whitehaven - Loweswater - Keswick - Mungrisdale - Johnby - Blencow. 63 miles.
Blencow - Unthank End - Plumpton - Lazonby - Renwick - C2C - Edmundbyers. 50 miles.
Edmundbyers - Blanchland - Stocksfield - Hadrian's Wall Cycle Way -
Newcastle. 33 miles.
