Has anyone anything to say about stitching the C2C and the Hadrians wall route into a circular tour?

Just beginning cycle touring so all advice welcome.

Hi Rob

Having done C2C west to east, I would look at doing it first backwards and coming back via the easier(?) W2W.

Although I think it will be a cracking trip I don't think the W2W is easier to be honest. You don't get the big stiff climbs such as Hartside, Black Hill etc but there are plenty of step undulating sections spread all over the route and it is slightly longer.

Visit www.cyclingw2w.info for more info on the Walney to Wear route as well as info on the newly opened finish section to Whitby which promises to be a belter.

Many people have made the C2C and Reivers into a round trip (visit Dean Grindles excellent Reivers site at www.reivers-guide.co.uk for more details on this loop.

If considering a backwards C2C and then heading back on Hadrians Cycleway then Doug Ridgways HCW site can be found (for those of you who don't know) at www.cycle-routes.org/hadrianscycleway which incidentally is a fantastic source of info on trouble spots on the C2C Newcastle and Tynemouth section.

Doing a circular route (whatever route you chose) has much to recommend it.

When I was planning LEJOG for last year, I was concerned about getting back from JOG - a long way back to Cornwall. Mrs Mick F said, "Well, cycle home!"

So it was set LEJOGLE - 1789 miles. No train, no bus, no van. After all, you're sitting on the finest form of transport known to man!

Please read www.lejogandback.blogspot.com

The Shelton bikers did the C2C and returned via the Hadrians wall route a couple of years ago.

An account of their journey can be read on the link below.
