Where were you cycling on such terrain to lower, drop and catch bikes. I know where the bridleways that avoid the sort of thing. Infact I just come across the route, which is printed off and outlined.

But like Wheelwright's, it is very hard cycle ride and not for the fainted hearted.

twas along time ago but think it was somwhere round seathwaite,i was with my brother in law who was a bit of a gun ho character,infact it was only 2 weeks after the cheynoble disaster and i was melting snow in my water bottle.anyway we we acending some mountain and it was bout 18" of snow and was coming down horizontal, "bugger this" i said im goin back down, he took tha huff and thought i was soft. we then had to get back to the car ,he said it was only bout 10 miles on the road and he should belt off in front (as he was fitter)and contact our loved ones,there were no mobiles then.iplodded along in the dark with no lights, i thought by this is getting a bit steep,oh no it was honnister pass.then to cap it off back at the car i was looking for some food id left ,hed eaten it all!! when we got home a chucked bike into garage and didnt look at again for months.
