Planning my C2C...

Postby nickyjgordon on Sat May 10, 2008 9:14 am

... hello all.

I am busy planning (and training  ) for my next C2C hopefully later in the summer. Last time i did the cycle with 4 mates and we found it challenging but very enjoyable. This time though i have the missus in tow (oh dear, we went out for our first training together and...well it could be long slog for me!).

From my experience last time i would like to change the locations of overnight stays. I plan to do it in 3 days again, 2 nights. We plan to go from Whitehaven to Penrith (staying in same guest house as last time as it was great). However, last time i stayed overnight at the Rookhope Inn and whilst it was fine and the food was great there was nothing there! So this time i plan to hopefully get to Consett (is that pushing it? i reckon its about 55 miles from Penrith to Consett) as this area seemed a lot more built up as we passed through.

If Consett sounds like a plan, where should we stay? any recommendations? bike safety, food, etc?

If Consett sounds a bit far or you can recommend somewhere else in good proximity for a days cycling then please say. I cant really remember much between Rookhope and Consett to be honest, but it definitely wants to be further along than Rookhope rather than before it.

Thanks in advance.
