Accomodation in Rookhope/Stanhope

Postby dixon69 on Thu Apr 23, 2009 12:44 pm

Hi

Does anyone know of any camping barns or bunkhouses in the Rookhope/Stanhope area of the C2C?

Desperately searching for accomodation for a group and there seems to be a shortage in this area.

I don't, but one long shot is to try the youth hostel's at either Nine Banks or Langdon Beck.

Rookhope Inn - WARNING!

Postby Ems on Mon May 18, 2009 10:11 am

Many employees from the company that I work for have just completed the C2C and pre-booked for a meal at the Rookhope Inn.

Can I just forewarn anyone thinking of going here that they should consider other options!! After a day of rain and hailstones, the landlord flatly refused to light the log fire (despite the fact that there was a big group from our company plus other C2C people in there soaked through), he was rude and unaccommodating - plus, despite the fact that we pre-ordered the meals from a choice of 5, it took hours for some people to finally get some food and the landlord was happy to leave everyone in the pub cold and shivering. The food was average (to be polite) and was mostly microwave food.

Apparently last year, there was a different landlord but now, due to the new management, it has gone completely downhill.

Obviously, you might HAVE to go here as there aren't that many options in this area, just be prepared and don't expect too much.

Old Vicarage

Postby middalton on Sat May 23, 2009 8:53 pm

Another vote for the Old Vicarage in Rookhope, group of 6 of us stayed there last weekend.

Good rooms and a great breakfast, Pauline and Colin very welcoming and took all our wet stuff to dry ready for the next day.

Would certainly stay there again
