Postby Disco on Sun Apr 20, 2008 6:56 pm

Following on from Agilemans comments, i've decided to revamp the forum...

any ideas on what YOU would like to see on YOUR forum? How would you like to see it look, etc etc .. What new forums? topics etc would you like to see included.

leave comments here and i'll get back to you all.

I used to be on another forum (rambling) and that was the same with people just registering on the forum, but never contribute to the posts. It was always the same band of people that kept the forum rolling over.

I would like the name to remain as The "C2C Guide" forum.

I would replace "All the Rest" with "The Coffee Shop", maybe replace "Other Cycle Routes" with a separate heading for routes such as Reivers, Hadrian's Wall, Walney to Wear, the White Rose, The Three Rivers and maybe The Transpennine Trail.

I agree that the forum needs to move forward.

One way is for more publicity. This would attract a wider cycling public. The trouble is, there's loads of cyclists that won't get anywhere near the north of England, unless they're doing E2E.

I get asked many times about routes and places in Cornwall and Devon, I often feel I need a website! Could C2C Forum cater for all cyclists in the the Northern Region with advice on different routes? Agileman's sugestions are great.

Basically, this forum is Northern based, maybe it should cash in on this.

That would be a good idea about more publicity on other cycle routes elsewhere in the country. Although I think the C2C route should be kept as the nucleus of the forum, but giving more access to other little known routes.

The Sustrans cycling network is ever growing and I have a hand-book by Richard Peace which gives fantasic information on cycle routes from the South Pennines to the Reiver's.

The trouble is if we were to give a separate heading for each route, we would run out of forum space.

Not sure if there is a Southern cycle forum for the South, but the North has a excellent cycling network and something we, Northerners take for granted. I'm sure people from the South would love to cycle up North and thence the information would be valuable.

In my case, I've never been to the South-West and been told it is good. I did the South Downs Way, walking, but would love to cycle it sometime.

I'm sure Mick F must be one of the forum most Southerly users

Further to the forum revamp, now due to take place at the end of May, how about a few suggestions per person on new "Categories" for OUR Forum?

I shall host a couple in about two weeks, and when by, we shall see what topics we can change/alter/move, to make the forum more "useable"

I have just sent out a mass email to all members,as i'm looking to cut down on the numbers of people just registering for the sake of it, and not posting.

Also, can i also ask you all NOT to display your email in your profile. Is will cut down the number of "luckers" that sign up in order to get email address. If anyone needs to contact you, their can initially do so, by PM.

I would replace the following:

Other Cycle Routes with Touring & Day Rides.

All the Rest with Bike Stop.

Tips & advice with Equipment & Technical.

The Lost & Found has been inactive since last Oct, I would replace with a Photo Gallery.

Would it be possible to have a marketplace where people could trade stuff they bought for the c2c but think they might never use again?
