My view is that the forum is very useful but has a percieved narrow focus on the C2C such that once people have completed their ride they forget about it. There are now a good number of coast to coast rides eg (W2W, Hadrians etc) and a whole host of other llabelled ong distance routes in the north of the UK none of these has a forum to my knowledge. In addition there are a lot of us who like to build our own routes using some of the NCN as a starting point, or are passing through the region. There must be people who want to share information, news and pictures of their rides. Maybe a simple start would be to link to the forum from the other route web sites?

That is a good point what you are saying about people registering onto the forum, prior to doing the C2C to get the information, then doing the ride and the forum has been forgotten about. It's a case of been there, done that, got the t-shirt and sod the forum.

I've registered on some forums, both walking and cycling and some are just plain boring. Never use some of them, but I'm still on the member's list.

Like I say, one idea is have a heading for the other coast to coast rides such as W2W which is getting popular, Transpennine Trail, Hadrian's Wall, Side2Side (CTC) and one I made up myself, Blackpool to Bridlington. Then there is a R2R (Ravenglass to Ravenscar) which have both Roman connections or even a S2S (Seascale to Scarborough) and so on. I like to make my own rides, such as the double coast to coast in June.

I would like the name to remain as The "C2C Guide" forum.

I would replace "All the Rest" with "The Coffee Shop", maybe replace "Other Cycle Routes" with a separate heading for routes such as Reivers, Hadrian's Wall, Walney to Wear, the White Rose, The Three Rivers and maybe The Transpennine Trail.

FORUM UPDATED

Postby Emerald8 on Thu May 01, 2008 12:48 pm

Hi guys

Been away for a while, just returned to see very stern e-mail!

I will try my best to post and ramble (?) only about cycling, but my mouth (typing) sometimes gets the better of me!!

Talk soon.

Don't think Disco meant it in a nasty way, just trying to put a point over to the lack of posts from the minority who just never post at all. Even it's just a post once a month and does not have to be C2C related, just anything cycling. Better than nowt, then that's up to them.

In other words, do or die

I know the feeling too well, I'm getting a bit disheartened with the forum. I'm on the CTC forum and have been for the last year and I've been a CTC member for 8 years now. One of the reasons, why I like touring and going to the York Rally.
