We stayed at the Fellfoot indendent hostel at Penrith and was well impressed with it. It was very clean and at the time we were the only 2 staying that night and although we booked a twin room they offered us a room each if we wanted. The breakfast was nice with plenty of things to choose from. Would highly recommend it.

Hi,

Must also recommend Fellfoot in Penrith, a place ideally situated for a first night stopover, the owners were cyclists themselves and the rooms were excellent, even the Muesli was top quality stuff,

How do they do it at that price ?

Can't recommend this place enough. Extremely well thought out. Everything you could want was provided, from towels to shower gel, from milk in the fridge to homebaked flapjacks on arrival, even Savlon and arnica cream in the bathroom! Very friendly and helpful owners. Perfect for the weary cyclist.

Fellfoot was a godsend for us, enabling 14 Scouts and Leaders to do the C2C in five days. Jacqui and Alasdair were wonderful. They arranged for our "overflow" to sleep in the adjacent Guide hut. They provided us all with excellent dinners, breakfasts and packed lunches. Alasdair also drove our minibus and trailer to the top of Hartside for us to collect from our next hostel at Alston. He cycled back to Penrith. He kindly provided us with a TV so we could watch the final F1 race in Brazil. His and Jacqui's hospitality was lovely. We shall come again in future years. We NEED folk like Jacqui and Alasdair - they are the salt of the earth! Best wishes to Fellfoot for the future from the 2nd Amersham Common Scouts.
