C2C in wintertime

Hi there,

I am planning to ride the C2C in the last week of december and / or first week of january.
I have a few questions about it and hope you can help me out:

What kind of weather can I expect?
What are the road conditions by then?
Do I have to make reservations (for accomodation) already?
Can I make it by regular 28” wheels-bicycle?

I've decided not ot do the trip in wintertime, maybe in spring.
