BOOKING SCAM

Postby colin on Wed Oct 14, 2009 4:38 pm

Please be on the alert for the advanced booking scam. eg. An enquiry for several people in several rooms for a periof of 7 days agreeing to pay a non refundable deposit. Then making a payment for the full amount on the understanding that in the event of any change in plans the B&B will refund the difference - the potential loss occurs when the payment is made with a stolen/cloned credit card/cheque and you make a refund to a second card or by cash transfer etc., or they pay deposit the whole group of tourist turn up - enjoy your hospitality for a week and pay enthusiasticly on departure with someones elses card etc., I had one for earlier this year and have just received a similar enquiry for a week in January 2010.
