Hi and thanks for the reply, whats wrong with the place, were not after luxury but clean is important, as its the starting point we will have our wives staying over as they are dropping us lads and bikes off at the start, and staying the night, is it that bad or just not great. Is there anywhere you would recommend in Whitehaven ? As we dont know the area at all, any help greatly appreciated.

Bit off the route, but I stayed at Stonehouse Farm in St. Bees. Very good, friendly, very clean and most of all a good full breakfast to start the day. The downside is the climb out of St. Bees, but a mile shorter than from Whitehaven to Moor Row.

Have a look on the Website, prices pretty decent too. I always think St. Bees is a idyllic place to stay. http://www.stonehousefarm.net/
You can still get onto the c2c route via High Walton, this is a minor lane out of St. Bees leading to the A595 road, which you would connect with c2c proper.
